It’s tax season again! You will need your tax certificate from your medical aid scheme to complete the Medical section of your annual tax return. If your contribution is paid by your employer, then your medical scheme contribution will be reflected on your IRP5. If you pay your contribution by debit order each month, then your scheme will issue a tax certificate that details exactly how much was paid to the medical aid for yourself and your dependents over the course of the tax year (1 March to end Feb). It also details how much money you paid for other medical expenses, such as medicines and doctors expenses, which you claimed for, but your medical aid did NOT cover.
